Michael Joe Gutierrez, 35, of Lubbock, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday morning, January 12, 2026. Michael was born on August 10, 1990, in Lubbock, to Imelda Gonzales and Pablo Gutierrez of Lubbock.
Michael attended school in Lubbock and graduated in 2006 with his senior class at Monterey High School.
Michael loved all kinds of music and was a drummer in a band call Within This Hour in Lubbock. He was an avid football fan, especially the San Francisco 49’ers and the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He loved football and playing video games. He loved spending time with his family as much as possible.
Michael worked as a projectionist at the Science Spectrum for approximately twenty years. He was raised up in the Catholic faith.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his mother, Imelda Gonzales and husband Dorie Castro of Lubbock; his father, Pablo Gutierrez of Lubbock; four brothers: Paul Gutierrez and wife Jessica of Lubbock, Sammy Gutierrez of Lubbock, Daniel Gutierrez and wife Elvia of Lubbock and Manuel Gutierrez and wife Naomi of Lubbock. Michael also leaves behind the beloved memory of his fur baby, Blu Gutierrez. Michael was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, in the Venue on Broadway, 2202 Broadway, next door to Combest Family Funeral Home. A Prayer Service will be held from 6:30 PM to 7 PM during the time of visitation. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, in the Venue on Broadway, with Mr. David Gonzales officiating. Final rites and interment will follow in Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Home.
The pallbearers will be Paul Gutierrez, Daniel Gutierrez, Manual Gutierrez, Andrew Santos, Eddie Perez, Carlos Perez, Jordan McGrew and Sebastian Campos.
