Michael Hale Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bevis Funeral Home - Tallahassee on Jan. 16, 2026.
Mike Hale, 56, of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on January 14, 2026. He was born on September 9, 1969, in Morgantown, West Virginia, to John and Susan Hale.

Mike moved frequently during his childhood, a rhythm of life that shaped his curiosity about the world and strengthened his bond with his favorite (and only) brother, Matt. He was a strong athlete and leader in high school, loving all things sports which led him to the University of Texas at Austin on scholarship where he received his bachelor's degree in business. Mike remained a loyal Texas Longhorns fan throughout his life.

His adventurous spirit later carried him to Panama and Venezuela, where he spent many years building friendships and collecting memories he held close.

Mike found purpose in building things and did so in his career through Mike Hale Contracting (MHC), where he worked with many trusted associates and friends. He took pride in working alongside his children, where team effort became shared memories and lasting bonds.

Mike lived life on his own terms: down-to-earth and never shy about sharing his opinions on politics, football, or nearly any subject. He was known for his abundance of facts-some more useful than others-and his eagerness to share them. Above all, he was profoundly proud of his children and grandchildren, often saying they were "one of the things he got right."

As the years went on, Mike was able to have deeper and more heartfelt connections. He openly acknowledged the things he didn't always get right yet was unwavering in expressing how proud he was of all of his children.

Mike loved the Texas Longhorns, a good book, and his family. He is survived by his parents, John and Susan; his wife, Celina; his children, Stacey (Phil), Michael (Lily), Avery (Dan), Morgan, Jackie, AJ (Shelbi), Alex, and Kevin; his five grandchildren; and his brother, Matt, along with Matt's family, Becca and Jackson.

Mike's life was rich with stories, friendships, and love. Taken far too soon, his passing leaves an absence that words can scarcely capture, and he will be deeply and forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of A Life Well Lived will be held 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17th, 2026 at Bevis Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.

Michael and Lily, your New City church family is grieving with you and praying for you. We love you so much. "Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory." "O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 15:51-57)
