Michael Edward Hanson, Sr passed away unexpectedly on January 25th, 2026 at his home at the age of 69. He was born on July 5th, 1956 to Jack and Shirley (nee Schickowski) Hanson, Sr in Waukesha, Wisconsin. He graduated from Waukesha South High School in 1974.

“Big” Mike worked for Cement and Tile and other various trade companies before starting his own business in 1976, “Big Mike’s Home Improvements,” which lasted 35 years. His company sponsored community events, his Sons sports teams, and at one point a NASCAR Truck. Mike was also a volunteer Firefighter for Dousman Fire Department for 25+ years as a Safety Officer.

Mike had a love for cars. He and his brother Jack built a Drag Racer, “The Wagonmaster” racing at Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove. He was a regular attendee at the Old Car Club showcasing his T-Bucket, Corvette, and Viper throughout the years.

Mike will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, always making people smile and laugh no matter if you were a stranger or a friend. He will be deeply missed by his brother David (Janet) Hanson; sister-in-law, Debbie (Jack) Hanson; three sons, Mike Hanson Jr, Matt (Lisa) Hanson and Max Hanson; nieces Andrea Hanson and Angie Hanson; and grandchildren Emily Hanson, Leonardo Hanson, and Victoria Hanson

A Celebration of Life will be held later in the year. More details will be provided at a later date.
