Richard Lee Hanson Sr., also known as "Horsey", was born on December 18, 1940, to the late Andrew J. and Rachel Hanson. On September 1, 2023, he peacefully passed away at NHC - Columbia in Columbia,

Richard was a man who found joy in lifes simple pleasures. He had a zest for living and a heart full of
warmth and laughter. He had a particular passion for spending his time at the casino and cheering on his
favorite horses at the racetrack. His enthusiasm for the thrill of the races was infectious, and he loved
sharing these experiences with friends and family.
Richard was known far and wide for his sociable nature. He had an incredible ability to strike up
conversations with anyone he met, making countless friends along the way. His nickname, "Horsey,"
was a testament to his love for horse racing and his playful spirit.
But above all, Richard cherished his family. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren and
great-grandchildren. Their laughter and smiles brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every
moment spent with them.
Richard is survived by his children: Rick (Cheryl) Hanson, Kari (Warren) Depew, and Debbie (Ric) Gonzales;
