WORCESTER – Michael T. Hennessy, 74, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 at Christopher House in Worcester.
Michael was born in Dunmore East, Waterford, Ireland to the late Thomas and Christine (Fitzgerald) Hennessy. He was predeceased by his brother Nicholas Hennessy, forever missed.
Michael retired from the City of Worcester after 39 years as the Director of Accounts in the City Auditor’s Department, spending 14 of those years in the Inspection Department as the Financial Coordinator overseeing many construction projects, especially the DCU Center, formerly the Civic Center. He also spent many years as the managing trustee of the Bradford House Condos in Worcester.
Michael enjoyed dining, especially Central Mass Restaurants and diners, walking, sports, especially golf as a caddie at Mt. Pleasant Country Club in Boylston, where his life was shaped by the members, for which he was always grateful. He enjoyed travel from Montreal to Florida, and at Oceanside Condos in Dennisport twice a year with his mother for many years. Also enjoying Wells and Ogunquit, Maine with family and friends, especially walking Ogunquit to Moody beach.
Michael is survived by his brothers, Thomas Hennessy of Worcester – his longtime dining companion and Brian Hennessy and his wife Theresa of North Oxford, and longtime friend Eileen Lyons of Worcester.
Michael’s family would like to thank JHC Hospice and Christopher House for their expert care and compassion during his stay.
Services for Michael will be held privately at the convenience of the family. He will be laid to rest in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
