Michael Raymond Herhuth, age 73, of Macomb Township, Michigan, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, March 6, 2025.
Michael, son of Raymond and Lillian Herhuth, was born in Detroit, Michigan and spent his childhood growing up in St. Clair Shores, Michigan, attending Community Baptist Church where he met his wife, Linda Sue Brown. Upon graduating from Lakeview Highschool in 1970, Michael enlisted in the United States Air Force. From 1970-1974, Michael served his country traveling stateside from base to base as part of the Red Horse Squadron building Air Force base facilities. There he developed his masonry skills and a life-long passion for the trade. On October 19, 1973, Michael and Linda married, spending his last year of service in Kansas.
Michael, achieving the rank of Sergeant, separated from the Air Force in 1974. Thereafter, he and Linda purchased property in Macomb Township, Michigan, where Michael built their first home and they started a family. He continued honing his masonry skills, falling in love with decorative brick and stone work, eventually starting his own company to showcase his work on custom homes. While he retired in 2008, he never retired from his passion. He continued utilizing his skills to serve the Lord through mission work with CWE taking him to countries like Brazil, Togo, Costa Rica and Honduras, as well as various projects for family and friends.
Michael loved to create. In addition to his masonry work, he also loved woodworking. Often crafting custom cabinets, trim, and furniture for those closest to him. Later in life, he developed the hobby of painting. When he wasn't creating things, he was creating memories. He cherished his time traveling with his wife. He devoted himself to his family. He cooked, he cleaned, and selflessly helped with any and every project imaginable. Playing games was one of his favorite ways to connect with people, especially with his ten grandchildren.
The church held a dear place in his heart where he happily served the Lord wholeheartedly. He attended several churches throughout adulthood (Macomb Baptist Church, Bethany Baptist Church and Cornerstone Baptist Church). During his life he filled the roles of Sparky Game Director for Awana, Boy's Brigade leader, Treasurer, Deacon, Usher, ABF prayer leader and small group leader. He loved spending time with the Lord in prayer and studying The Word.
Heaven has gained the most selfless, loving and patient man. Michael leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Linda, his daughter Colleen (Todd) Schinzing, sons Joshua Herhuth, Joel (Samantha) Herhuth and his adored grandchildren Caleb, Bryson, Alyse, Diella, Lilyana, Alexa, Harper, Hunter, Lincoln and Laith. He is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Lillian Herhuth, and is survived by his siblings Rodney (Bobbie) Herhuth, Connie (David) Kelly, Darlene (Dean) Ruprecht.
