Michael Hipwell Obituary

Hipwell, Michael Patrick
HALFMOON - Michael Patrick Hipwell, 45, of Halfmoon, entered into eternal life on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at Samaritan Hospital, in Troy.
Born in Troy, N.Y., Mike was the son of Barbara Testo Hipwell and the late Paul Hipwell. A graduate of Tamarac High School (1998) and Hudson Valley Community College, he turned his early passion for drums and hockey into a life defined by drive and dedication. Mike was a powerhouse in the technology industry, earning top accolades at companies like Raymour & Flanigan, Pitney Bowes, HERE Technologies, and most recently, Precisely.
Known affectionately as "Dad," "Coach," or occasionally "Fred," Mike's heart belonged to the community and his family. He served as a board member and coach for Clifton Park Youth Hockey, and was a fixture at the baseball diamonds for Halfmoon and Clifton Park Youth Baseball and the Tri-City Bombers. Whether he was golfing with his sons, leading his fantasy football league, or dirt biking, Mike lived life at full throttle. He was a faithful communicant of St. Edward the Confessor Church, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mike is the beloved husband of 20 years to Andrea N. Los Hipwell, and the devoted father of Cole Patrick, Lucas Michael, Mason Paul, and Dylan Andrew. He is also survived by his siblings, Lisa (Michael) Williams and Christopher (Mary Alice) Hipwell; and a large, loving extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Gordon C. Emerick Funeral Home (1550 Rte.-9, Clifton Park) on Monday, February 2, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 3, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Edward the Confessor Church, followed by interment at St. Mary's Cemetery, Troy.
The Hipwell family extends their profound thanks to the first responders from Clifton Park Halfmoon EMS, Halfmoon Fire, NYSP and Halfmoon Sheriff's department, for their swift and compassionate care. Words cannot express how deeply grateful we are for the outpouring of love and support from our neighbors and friends.

Aunt Barbara and family: I pray Michael's spirit shines down upon you to comfort you in this unexpected and truly terrible loss... I was happy indeed to visit with him when we were last at Marcia's house! Of course, I so remember practically growing up with Mike at your old home during the summers of our childhood. I keep you and all Mike's family in my prayers daily.

Andrea and the Hipwell family,

I wanted to reach out and express my deepest sympathies for the loss of your Michael.

Elaine, Donna, Matt and I were very close with Lisa, Chris and Michael growing up.

More recently when in upstate NY, we had a chance to reconnect with Chris and Michael ... the bond and familiarity was still there and felt strong!

From one Michael Hipwell to the other, be well and new in spirit.

Mike was the best. He was kind, generous, fun, and without pretense. Whether he was broadcasting games under his alias "Slash Gordon" or rolling into a hotel lobby with suitcases of White Castle and an armful of cocktail provisions, he was always spreading the love, up for a good time, and bringing an undeniable positive energy to every situation. The rinks and hotels will never be the same without him.

To Andrea and the boys, we´re all thinking of you and sending strength as you navigate this unfathomable loss. Thanks for sharing Mike with us. It truly was an honor to get to know him and to call him a friend. He will be terribly missed.

Growing up and going to Aunt Barbs house and swimming in the pool with all the cousins every summer. Cooking out running around and playing in the huge yard they had while all the adults sat around playing cards. Such fun times with Michael, Chris and Lisa and all our family. Those are times I really cherish. My love and prayers are with Michael's family. You are loved.
