Michael Richard “Holmsie” Holmes, 67, a lifelong resident of Stoughton, died at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 after a brief illness. He was the son of the late Richard G. and Doris M. (O’Toole) Holmes. He was born in Boston and educated at Stoughton High School, Class of 1974. Michael worked for Maltby Tree Service in Stoughton for 46 years, retiring as a foreman in 2019. He was a member of C.W. Welch Memorial Fish & Game in Stoughton. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping but his greatest joy was spending time with and cooking for his family.
Michael is survived by his siblings, Steven P. Holmes of Bridgewater, Katherine A. O’Brien and her husband John of East Bridgewater, Christine M. Cofsky and her husband Michael of Stoughton, Karen E. Coffey and her husband Edward of Wareham and Kimberly A. Tracey of Stoughton. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Funeral services private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to C.W. Welch Memorial Fish and Game Preserve, P.O. Box 102, 1651 Washington Street, Stoughton, MA 02072.
