Michael Anthony Howard

Michael Anthony Howard, 55, of Charlottesville, Virginia passed away on March 27, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving wife and
children.
Born December 11, 1969 in Charlottesville Virginia, he was the son of Nelson and Delores Howard. Michael was preceded in death by his brother Dorrelle Washington, mother Delores Howard, father Nelson Alfonso Howard, and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
Michael was a proud graduate of Charlottesville High School where he was a well known known track star and Breakdancer. He is
remembered as someone who would always make his classmates and teachers laugh. Mike went on to attend Virginia Union University before starting his career with Charlottesville Police Department. He served as a highly regarded School Resource Officer assigned to Charlottesville City Schools where he made a difference in the lives of many children in the community. Mike proudly served as Patrol Officer until his retirement from Charlottesville Police Department in 2012. He was a loving husband, an amazing father, and would help anyone in need. Mike has touched many lives across many cultures and his legacy will live on forever in our hearts.
Michael Howard is survived by his loving wife Nicole Howard of Charlottesville Virginia; sons Kyshon Howard, Michael Howard Jr, Antonio Avila (all of Charlottesville Virginia) and Carlos Jackson of Clovis California; daughter Aytrice Howard of Charlottesville Virginia; granddaughters Miyah and Madelyn Albino of Virginia; brothers Steve Howard, Greg Howard (Kim Deane) and Derrick Jackson of Charlottesville Virginia; sister Belinda Howard of Charlottesville Virginia; nieces Tanjalir Howard and Derricka (Jackson) Edwards of Charlottesville Virginia, Dorain and Dominique Stewart of New York; nephews Rashad Brock, Steven Dickerson, KJ Howard, Fredrick Green, Brian Coles and Davion Jackson all from Charlottesville and surrounding areas; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins from Charlottesville, Whitehall, and surrounding areas. Mike also leaves behind many close friends who will miss him dearly but his legacy will live on forever.
Special thanks to Dr. Robert Goldstein, Dr. Kathy Phan, and Joshua Landis for providing excellent care throughout these years. A private family visitation will be held at Hill and Wood. A public Memorial Service will be held on April 19th at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Pointe Church where we will celebrate Michael's life. Special thanks you to Reverend Eddie M. Howard who will officiate Michael's homecoming services. Interment will be private for the family. The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support.
