Michael Edward Hughes

Mr. Michael Edward Hughes, age 69, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his residence.

Mr. Hughes was born in Floyd County, Georgia on October 30, 1956, son of the late Marion Edward Hughes and the late Mary Lou Chastain Hughes. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Judith Cochran. Mr. Hughes worked as a Maintenance Technician at Integrated Products and then at Kobelco Construction Machinery. He attended Shannon First Baptist Church. Mr. Hughes loved the outdoors and riding his Harley, but his greatest joy was his grandsons.

Survivors include his wife, Pamela White Hughes, to whom he was married on November 2, 1976; two sons, Chris Hughes (Virna) and Cody Hughes (Kelli); two grandsons, Lincoln Hughes and Beckett Hughes; several nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 4pm in the Chapel at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Rev. Louis Byars officiating. Interment will follow in Rome Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday from 2:30pm until 3:45pm.

Pallbearers are asked to assemble at Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, on Wednesday at 3:30pm and include Active: Chris Hughes, Cody Hughes, Rickey Simpson, Keith Touchstone, Wayne Hughes, and Danny Hughes. Honorary: Robert Blackmon and Mackey Cochran.

Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Shannon First Baptist Church.
