Robert Hughes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Eline Funeral Home - Hampstead on Feb. 27, 2026.
With deep love and faith, we celebrate the life of a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend who was called home after a courageous battle with bladder cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Hughes; his daughters, Angela Lehnhoff and Jossalin Hughes; his mother, Carolyn Holden; his brother, Jeff Holden; his son-in-law, Robert Lehnhoff; his cherished grandchildren, Alaina, Trey, Lukas, and Rowan; and his two beloved dogs Sherman and Ladybug. He also leaves behind countless extended family members, friends, and coworkers who were blessed to know him.

He was a man who lived his life with strength, humor, and an unwavering love for his family. As the "big boss" on every construction site he worked on, he led with confidence, skill, and a genuine heart for people. He believed in doing things the right way and never left a job site without making someone laugh or at least smile. His presence was steady, his word was dependable, and his work ethic unmatched.

Outside of work, he found joy in life's simple but meaningful pleasures. He loved golfing, bowling, and fishing. Especially, when surrounded by friends and family. Those moments on the green, at the lanes, or by the water were where he created some of his fondest memories.

Above all, he was a man of heart. His legacy lives on in the homes he built, in the laughter he sparked, in the grandchildren who carry his adventurous spirit, and in the family who will forever cherish his memory.

Though bladder cancer took his earthly body, we hold tightly to the promise found in God's Word, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. We find peace knowing he is now healed, whole, and resting in the presence of God. His faith, strength, and love continue to guide his family, and we know that one day we will see him again.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
