Michael Hutkin

Michael Hutkin, 75, of Newtown Square and formerly of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. Throughout his illness, Michael faced each day with quiet strength, resilience, and unwavering grace.
Born on December 17, 1949, in Englewood, New Jersey, Michael was the son of Ethel (Glickman) and Arthur Seymour Hutkin. He was raised in Levittown, Pennsylvania, where he often reminisced about his joyful childhood - running through the streets of Twin Oaks and playing Little League each spring. He attended Walt Disney Elementary and graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1967.
A child of the '60s, Michael embraced the spirit of the era. In 1969, he hitchhiked across the country to San Francisco, briefly immersing himself in the vibrant counterculture of Haight Ashbury. He delighted in retelling stories from this adventure where he saw rock and roll legends like Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead.
After returning to Pennsylvania and earning an associate's degree in business from Bucks County Community College, Michael began his career in interior design, working alongside his father at Arthur's Interiors in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. What began as a family calling evolved into a fulfilling, decades-long career built on integrity, kindness, and craftsmanship. Michael later founded Michael Hutkin Window Coverings, a business he nurtured with pride and care. Even as his health declined, he remained dedicated to his clients, colleagues, and the work he loved.
Michael's presence extended far beyond his professional life. He was a devoted and active member of the Doylestown community, volunteering generously with Doylestown Presbyterian Church's Community Meal and the Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless. He served as emcee for Pearl S. Buck International events, sponsored Little League teams, and quietly supported local businesses and first responders with thoughtful gestures and donations.
Above all, Michael's heart belonged to his family. He married Christine in 1987 at Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in a ceremony that honored both of their faiths - a reflection of the deep respect and love that defined their life together. As a father, Michael was attentive, patient, and endlessly proud. He enthusiastically supported his children's passions, serving as a band and choir parent at Central Bucks East High School long after his own children had graduated, and never missing a concert, game, or milestone.
As a grandfather, he found pure joy in the company of his grandchildren - laughing at their jokes, celebrating their accomplishments, and always greeting them with a hug and a snack. His legacy of warmth, humor, and devotion will live on in their hearts and lives.
Michael is survived by his loving wife, Christine; his children; grandchildren; extended family; and many cherished friends, neighbors, and clients whose lives he touched with kindness and generosity.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Arthur Seymour Hutkin and Ethel Glickman Hutkin. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine Giles Hutkin, with whom he shared 39 beautiful years, and their three children: Corey Willingham (Michael), Jaime Hutkin, and Dakotah Hutkin. Michael was proudest of his role as Poppy to Emmanuelle and Benjamin Willingham. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister Susan Hutkin Seltzer (Robert), his nieces, Rachel Goldstein and Jessie Fast, his grandnieces Zoe and Tessa Goldstein, and the granddaughter of his maternal Uncle Jack Glickman and paternal Aunt Cora Hutkin, Jennifer Gwynn.
A 3 p.m. visitation followed by a 4:30 p.m. funeral service will be held at the Logan-Videon Funeral Home in Broomall, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, October 18. Donations may be made to two organizations close to Michael's heart: Cradles to Crayons or the Coalition to Shelter and Support the Homeless.
