Gerald Wayne Grabey, known affectionately to friends and family as Jerry, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, in Philadelphia, at the age of 76. Born on August 21, 1949, in Delaware County a son of the late Earl and Louis (nee Browning) Grabey, Jerry was a man of remarkable creativity, intelligence, and kindness, whose legacy is one of artistic passion and familial dedication.
Jerry was a proud graduate of Marple Newtown High School, a place where he first discovered his love for the arts. He furthered his education at Temple University, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Jerry's passion for theater would become a lifelong pursuit, culminating in a distinguished career spanning over 45 years as a Theater Manager at The Mann Center for the Performing Arts. His dedication to the arts was not just a profession but a calling that he fulfilled with grace and enthusiasm.
Jerry's life was rich with love and family. He is survived by his devoted former spouse, Regina (nee Suppa) Grabey, and their cherished children: Elizabeth C. (nee Grabey) Viliamas and her husband, Andrew; Carla T. (nee Grabey) Hughes and her husband, David; and Regina M. (nee Grabey) Bayley and her husband, Edward. Though he was predeceased by his son James A. Grabey in 1991, Jerry's legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Ethan James Viliamas, River Matthew Hughes, and the eagerly anticipated twin boys on the way.
Jerry was the beloved brother of Carol (nee Grabey) Galloway and her husband, Steven. He was predeceased by his sister, Laney (nee Grabey) Grace, in 2018. His life was enriched by the joy brought by his many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will hold onto the memories of their fun-loving and wise uncle.
Throughout his life, Jerry's creative spark was evident to all who knew him. Whether he was managing the theater's latest production or crafting beautiful memories with his family, Jerry approached every endeavor with a gentle touch and a warm smile. His intelligence was not just of the mind but of the heart, guiding him to act with kindness and compassion in every situation.
Jerry's presence was a gift to those who had the privilege to know him. He was a man who lived his life with purpose and joy, touching countless hearts through his work and his unwavering love for his family. His memory will be treasured and kept alive by the many lives he has impacted.
