Margaret Lehman Obituary

Margaret E. "Margee" Lehman passed away peacefully and went home to be with the Lord on July 23, 2025-her 94th birthday.

Born Margaret Elizabeth Stone on July 23, 1931, in Philadelphia, PA, she was the third of eight children of Jesse T. and Katherine E. (Starks) Stone. Margee was raised in Newtown Square, PA. After marrying the love of her life, Dave, the couple moved to Long Beach, CA, where Dave was stationed with the Navy. They later settled in New Castle, DE, and eventually Wilmington, DE.

Margee will be forever remembered for her sweet smile, kind and loyal heart, wonderful laugh, and her unfailing love for family and friends.

Her Christian faith was the foundation of her life. She came to saving faith in Christ as a teenager and was baptized on April 30, 1950. She was actively involved in church throughout her lifetime, and for the past 25 years she was a devoted member of Ogletown Baptist Church where she served faithfully in many roles, including with the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). She especially cherished her Sunday School class, forming deep bonds with the women who shared her faith-lifelong friendships that meant the world to her.

Dave and Margee created countless memories camping and traveling with their children and later with close friends. After Dave's passing in 1994, Margee continued to travel with friends, nieces, and her daughter, Kathy. She proudly visited all 50 states and never passed up a day trip or a weekend at the beach-her happy place was by the ocean with her toes in the sand.

Margee shared a uniquely close bond with her six sisters. Starting in 1966, the annual "Stone Sisters' Christmas Party" became a beloved tradition-an event full of laughter, games, gifts, and love. The sisters traveled from near and far for 46 years to keep the tradition alive.

A proud 1949 graduate of Marple Newtown High School, Margee stayed close with her classmates. For 25 years, the ladies of the Class of '49 gathered four times a year to reminisce, catch up, laugh, and sing their alma mater. The "49'ers" will miss Margee deeply.

Margee was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 36 years, David E. Lehman; and her sisters Ruth Brown, Jean Neel, and Katherine Ferrell. She is survived by her children: Karl Lehman (Christa) and Katherine Houghton (Joseph); her brother David Stone (Carol); her sisters Janet Goldhahn, Jessie Tipton, and Barbara Thompson; grandchildren Michelle Lehman, Lauren Lavelle, and Joshua Derrick (Melissa); great-grandchildren Kira, Moira, Jack, and Theodore; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff of Vero Assisted Living in Newark, as well as to the dear friends Margee made there, for their love, care, and companionship over the past two years. Special thanks also go to VITAS Hospice for their tender support during her final days.

A celebration of Margee's life will be held at 11:00AM, Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at Ogletown Baptist Church, 316 Red Mill Rd in Newark, DE. The family will receive friends from 9:30AM until the time of the service at the church.

Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Bear, DE.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Margee's memory to the Lottie Moon Offering in support of international missionaries (https://www.imb.org/generosity/give-now/).
