Alexander J. Fekete of Hainesport, NJ, formerly of Willingboro, passed away just after midnight on October 9, 2025. He was 91.
Born in Philadelphia to Alexander J. Fekete and Rita (McFadden), he graduated from Roman Catholic High School. He attended Temple University on a 4-year swimming scholarship and received his master's degree from Central Michigan University. Al honorably served in the US Army from 1957 – 1977. He served tours in Germany, Virginia, Vietnam, Korea, Alaska, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He retired as a Major and went on to work as a purchasing manager for Lockheed Martin in Moorestown for 20 years.
Al was a patriot; he proudly displayed the American Flag. Al was a sports fan--from cheering on his Philly teams to supporting Team USA during the Olympics. Al loved the movies, and when he stopped going to the theater, he made sure to watch a movie on TV every single night of the week. He enjoyed travelling both in Europe and on many cruises. Al was an amateur genealogist, having documented over 10,000 family connections for both family and friends. Al was a volunteer, serving as a eucharistic minister and volunteering for 40 years with First Way of Burlington County along with his wife, Margie. Al cherished his close friendships, valuing the time they spent together. But above all, Al was a family man who adored his wife and took an active role in the lives of his children. He enjoyed attending sporting events, fixing broken bicycles, working on many home improvement projects, and just sitting around the table talking. He cherished the time spent with his family, loved to brag about each and every one of their accomplishments and was extra proud to be a great-grandfather. Al had a unique bond with his grandson, Chase; the two of them shared a special language that often erupted into joy and laughter.
Predeceased by his twin boys, Michael and Mark, Al is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret (Venticinque) of Philadelphia and his 8 children; Margie (Jim), Donna (Peter), Al (Lynn), Steve (Gigi), Kathy (Bill), Michael (Susan), David (Esther) and Dominic (Christine). He is also survived by, and will forever be cherished and remembered by, his 21 grandchildren, Lisa, Mark (Courtney), Michelle (Gavin), Emily, Alex (Lucas), Alex, Sean, Shane, Stephanie (Stefen), Kelly, Kevin, Michael, Dominic, Dane, Cole, Allison (Austin), Josh, Nick, Ryan, Jake and Chase. And he was delighted by the arrival of his 6 great-grandchildren Hunter, Sienna, Dane, Tyler, Steven, and Alexandria (Libby).
Al is also survived by his brother Paul (Lea) and his children Paul and Tisha.
Al's family wishes to thank the Veteran's Administration, and the staff and nurses at DaVita Dialysis Main Street Lumberton.
The family extends a special thank you to Kathy and Bill Golden for their daily herculean efforts over the past year and a half allowing Al to remain in his home.
A viewing will be held on Thu, 10/16, at 10am at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Hainesport, NJ, followed by a Mass at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.
Burial will be attended by immediate family the next day. Al will be at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery alongside his twin boys.
