With hearts, full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Michael Wayne Jackson, who transitioned from this world on March 22, 2025 at the age of 63. Born November 28, 1961 to the late Willie Marie Miller Jackson and Luther Jackson Sr. in Halifax County. Mike was big on FAMILY. He loved his family with everything in him and spoke of each one of them often.
Mike gave his life to the Lord early in life at Brown's Memorial C.O.G.I.C. in Nathalie, Va. Mike graduated from Halifax Senior High School in 1980, where he was a member of the American Industrial Arts Student Association. He played basketball in high school and enjoyed driving his green Mercury Cougar. Mike then enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school. Mike LOVED the military! He was a Munitions Technician and served for 22 years. One of his favorite accomplishments was becoming the solider of the year and being able to fly in an F-15 because of that honor. He would talk to everybody about how great the Air Force was to him.
While in the Military Mike was also an assistant coach for AAU boys basketball the Hampton Hoyas, an assistant coach for the Menchville High School girls basketball team and a coach for a basketball team in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Mike also studied to become a real estate agent. He spent over 35 years in real estate where the last company he worked for was Long and Foster.
Mike enjoyed fishing, gardening, cruising, traveling and helping his best friend Bobby do trivia during the week When Mike was young he was trained in Karate by his
brother Luther which had a great love for. He continued his training during the Military. He received his first black belt while in Korea and he won the Air Force Karate Championship. He even had the opportunity to practicewith Billy Blanks. Mike had many military awards and accomplishments, there are too many to name. Mikes legacy is boundless love, unwavering faith and quiet strength. He was the steady anchor in his family and the listening ear so many leaned on. In addition to his parents, Michael was proceeded in death by two sisters, Deborah Sydnor, Francis Jackson and one nephew, Sherard Jackson. Mike leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife Dara Jackson. Children Sharanda Patrick, Jamar Jackson, Keislia Brown and Jazzmin Rosario. Grandchildren, Quashana Adams, Marctavia Dunkley, Cherante Adams, Tyronn Brown, Trunesh Brown, Jaden Rosario, Luna Rosario and Serenity Rosario. Great Grandchildren, Syncere Edmonds and Cartier Edmunds. Three brothers, Clinton McIver (Rosa), Luther Jackson Jr. (Priscilla), Samuel Jackson (Carolyn). Two sisters, Claire Jennings (Robert) and Peggy Hankins. Sister in Law, Erica Richardson (Anthony) and devoted nephew Daylen Richardson. One brother in law Winston Sydnor. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather and friend.
Though our heartaches with his absence, we find comfort in the beautiful memories he gifted us and the love he so effortlessly gave.
