Michael Jakaitis, a lifelong resident of Monticello, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at the Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown. He was 59.
The son of the late William C. Jakaitis and Patricia Winfield Jakaitis, he was born July 30, 1965 in Monticello.
Michael was a devoted son, brother and friend who brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He was a lifelong fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and was always ready to cheer on his team with unwavering loyalty. Michael had a deep appreciation for the simple joys in life. One of them going fishing with family and friends where stories were shared and memories were made out on the water. The holidays held a special place in Michael's heart. Not just for the festivities but for the time spent surrounded by those he loved most. His presence brought light and energy to every gathering, and he cherished the opportunity to create traditions and celebrate together. Michael will always be remembered for his big heart, his sense of humor and the love he showed to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
He is survived by his stepmother Denise; his siblings: Bill, Cathy, Robert, Darci, Laura and Melanie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins, especially Gary Korth.
Michael will be cremated, and services will be held privately. Memorial contributions can be made to the Sullivan County (Rock Hill) SPCA, www.sullivanspca.org
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of Michael, please visit our Tree Store.
