Regina "Gina" Gunther of Forestburgh passed into God's grace peacefully at Garnett Health Medical Center in Harris on Wednesday July 30, 2025 at the age of 61.
Born to Joseph Bonici and Catherine Clarke (Lewis) in Cornwall, NY on March 4, 1964, Gina graduated from Pocono Mountain High School in 1982. After attending Drew University, she spent several years as a Finance Manager in the auto industry, later becoming the Business Manager for LMR Glass in Monticello, NY. Gina ultimately became an incredibly proficient Court Clerk for the Town of Forestburgh. She was a member of the New York State Association of Magistrates Court Clerks. There was little she could not do when challenged. She was an accomplished flautist and piccolo musician in her younger years and was a talented photographer. She had a keen eye for color, shade and balance which also translated into an incredible skill for decorating and design. Her skills and love of gardening were renowned as were her flower gardens, cooking and baking. A homemaker second to none, her greatest love of all was her family.
Gina is survived by her husband LeRoy C. Gunther; sons: Andrew Gunther (Nora) of Manhattan, NY, and Jonathan Gunther (Leslie) of Voorheesville, NY; granddaughters: Jillian and Allison Gunther; her cherished sister: Cynthia DeFebo (Charles) of Shohola, PA; and nephews: Cameron and Clayton DeFebo. She was predeceased by her grandparents George and Irene Lewis of Fort Lee, NJ.
Gina and her family are eternally grateful for the love and support shown by David P. Bunce during her long battle with cancer, and to the many doctors, nurses and staff that worked diligently to improve her life.
She will be cremated, and services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center NYC or to the cancer center of your choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello. For additional information or to send an online condolence, please visit www.kennyfuneralhome.com
