Michael P. Johnson

Mike passed away at his residence on Friday, October 17, 2025 at the age of 78. He was born on March 22, 1947 to the late Harold and Maxine (McChesney) Johnson in Bay City, Michigan. He was a lifelong member of Messiah Lutheran Church. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War on the USS Oriskany Air Craft Carrier. He owned Mike’s Small Engine Repair for 30 years, while also working as a shooter operator for Wolverine Fireworks and at Walker Amusement. He was loved by all, especially his family.

Mike is survived by his wife of 55 years, Yvonne (Benefield) Johnson; children, Fred (Cheryl) Johnson, Brian Johnson and Heath Johnson; grandchildren, Jordan Etue, Dakota Etue, Nicholas (Autumn) Johnson, Brooklyn Johnson and Bailey (Kody) Vaughn; great granddaughter, Bristol Upton; brother, Randy Johnson and sister, Judy (Jim) Hodder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Danny Johnson; daughter-in-law, Dawn Johnson; mother-in-law, Doris Kawiecky; brother, Harold (Jerry) Johnson and sister-in-law, Karen Johnson.

Funeral Service for Mike will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted before the service by the Bay Count Veterans Council and the United States Navy. The family will be present to receive visitors on Friday at the Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wishes of the Family.
