Michael S. Kalem

Michael S. Kalem, age 64 of Warren and Dearborn Heights, Michigan passed away January 26, 2025, at his home. Born in Dearborn on January 28, 1960, the second of three children of Art and Marj Kalem. He attended Divine Child High School where he found his passion for music, playing the piano, a love for Musicals and Theater where he was often the Male Lead, as well as a lifelong devotion to Golf and talent for Bowling. Following his graduation in 1978 Michael spent time pursuing many interests until finding his calling in health care and entering the Radiology field. It was his work in health care that brought him into the next chapter of his life when he met his soulmate Lisa and the girls who would later become his stepdaughters when Lisa and he married in 2006.
Throughout the subsequent years building his career and caring for his family Michael always remained the socially active man of his youth continuing to golf as much as possible, meet the guys for league Bowling Thursdays and attend sanctioned Bowling Tournaments for many years; always maintaining a high average and skill level including several "Perfect" 300 games. In 2012 following a sudden aneurysm and its resulting difficulties many things about Michael's life changed but his love for family and friends never wavered and helped carry him through.
He is survived in life by his loving wife Lisa and their beloved daughters; Heather Hoogerhyde, Renae Hoogerhyde and Kaitlyn Hoogerhyde, 4 grandchildren; Aria, Mason, Harper and Ryder, his sister Sue (Harold) Sears and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Michael was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Marjorie Kalem as well as a sister, Diane Kwiecien.
A Celebration of Life and 9-hole Memorial Golf Outing will be held May 17, 2025 at Warren Valley Golf Course, 26116 W. Warren St., Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48127. Golf begins at 11:00 AM. with a luncheon to follow.
