Michael P. Kilinski, 81, of Amsterdam, New York, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on July 10, 1943 to the late Joseph Vincent and Bernice (Motyl) Kilinski.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1965 until 1967. He was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War where he served as a radio operator. After serving his country, Mike opened Bunk Barn Inc. where he sold and delivered Amish-made sheds, garages, and at one time outdoor furniture in Amsterdam for many years.
On May 1, 2010 he was united in marriage to Joan Persons, with whom he has shared the past 14 years.
The most important things in Mike's life were his children, his family, his Church and faith, and ice cream. Mike was a long-time member of the Loudonville Community Church, where he greatly enjoyed serving as an usher and chatting with everyone in attendance. He was a loving Christian man, who loved to spread God's word wherever he went, especially when he was out to deliver a shed. Mike always enjoyed spending time with his friends in the Amish community; frequently visiting with those locally, and with those he purchased from in New Holland, Pennsylvania. One of Mike's favorite pastimes was watching the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, and attending races whenever they toured locally. In his younger years Mike enjoyed going camping, taking his sons on long hikes in the Adirondacks, and skiing at Sunday River.
Mike leaves behind his loving family, including his wife, Joan Kilinski; his sons, Michael P. Kilinski Jr., Joseph Anthony Kilinski, and John James (Annmarie) Kilinski; his step-children, Susan A. (Gary) Marr, and Robert John (Darcy) Gray; his grandchildren, Michael Kilinski, Matthew Kilinski, Brayden Kilinski, Lauren Kilinski, Ashley Romero, and Frankie Zumpone; his step-grandchildren, Courtney, Curtis, Amber, Devan, Heather, and Thomas; his four great-grandchildren; his siblings, Joseph Kilinski and Joanne Mormile; his beloved canine companion, Sophie; as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Mike's family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital for the care and kindness they extended to Mike and his family throughout this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, 171 Guy Park Ave., Amsterdam, NY 12010. A memorial service will be held at the Loudonville Community Church, 374 Loudon Road, Albany, NY 12211 at 11:00AM on Saturday August 17th. Interment will take place privately in the Gerald B. H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike's memory to the Town of Florida Volunteer Fire Department, 6252 State Highway 30, Amsterdam, NY 12010.

Cousin Mike was an amazing man. I worked with him at Bunk Barn for a summer after graduating college. Mostly I was there to answer questions or coat furniture while he was preparing sites and delivering sheds but occasionally he would be building something on site. I attempted to help him by hammering alongside him. He spent more time laughing at me than getting any work done. Apparently I lacked in hammering skills lol. I really enjoyed that summer and still cherish those memories with him.

I have been going to Loudonville Community Church for just over 3 years now and every Sunday like clock work he was standing at the door greeting me and always was there to listen to me and ask me how my week was. I will miss him very much.

My Christian condolences to the family of Mike. He always greeted me with a warm smile as I entered the church sanctuary. I felt so welcome. I will miss my brother in Christ. He was indeed a gem, serving the Lord in a quiet spirit.
