MICHAEL J. KLAPETZKY
Mr. Michael Klapetzky of
Okawville, IL departed this life in the Select Specialty Hospital within Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 7:15 A.M. He had attained the age of 58 years, 9 months, and 19 days,
Michael was born in the Army hospital at Landstuhl, Germany on April 10, 1966, the son of John and Ursula (nee Christmann) Klapetzky. He was a 1984 graduate of Mascoutah High School in Mascoutah, IL. He then attended Southwest Illinois College in Belleville, IL for two years before transferring to Florida Southern University in Lakeland, FL where he received his Bachelor's degree.
Mr. Klapetzky spent most of his life working in customer service. At the time of his passing, he worked in the quality control and customer service department for Wisper Internet. He was a faithful member of the Okawville Community Church and enjoyed Bible study. He was a member of the Okawville Community Club and was a former member of Moose Lodge 815 in Mascoutah. Michael loved animals and was heavily involved in the Urban Coon Dog Owners organization. To say that Michael was a sports fanatic would be an understatement. He loved watching all professional sports and was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and especially the Colorado Rockies, but he really enjoyed following minor league sports and college athletics. He was a fan of all Mizzou sports programs, and he enjoyed following all of the local high school sports programs as well.
Left to mourn his passing is parents, John and Ursula Klapetzky of Mascoutah; one brother, Fred Klapetzky and wife Tammy of Okawville; one sister, Margareta Dafoe of Pensacola, FL; a niece, Allison Farina and husband Andrew and their son Tobias of Greenwood, IN; a nephew, Nicholas Dafoe of Mascoutah; and a host of friends.
In accordance with the wishes of the family, cremation will be performed.
A service to celebrate the life of Michael Klapetzky will be held at the Okawville Community Church on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 11 A.M. with Pastor Kevin Kenow officiating. Inurnment will be in the Mascoutah City Cemetery in Mascoutah.
Friends may call at the Okawville Community Church on Saturday, February 15 from 9 A.M. until the time of the service.
The family invites all those attending the visitation or service, to join them in celebrating Michael's life and love of sports, by wearing their favorite team jersey or shirt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Okawville Community Church and will be accepted by the Campagna Funeral Home.
