I was a client of Michael Kluthe Salon (MKS) since I was 16. That was in 1972. It was a family affair. My two aunts were also clients. Plus, I brought their youngest sister, my mother, to Lily Jackel. My father loved the workmanship, colour and finished product!
The Glitter Girls and the Who's Who of Toronto came. Just before the Brazilian Ball or any other high profile fund raiser, the salon was busy. A woman named Elaine ran the front desk efficiently for years and knew each client inside and out.
A hairdresser named Don preceded by his assistant Maria would wash and cut my hair. Maria Reisler, 52 years later, is a senior stylist with MKH, a spin-off of MKS.
After Don left, I graduated to Michael himself. When I had my retail business, Michael would give me sold advice whenever I needed it. He taught me how to deal with the media. Due to Michael's insight, my company appeared in newspapers and magazines. He glowed at my coverage. My sales increased exponentially. Not only did I receive a fabulous cut and style but I would tell him the time spent with him was worth the cost of a business consultation!
Michael was a mentor of mine on any levels and deeply cared about others. Michael spoke lovingly of his children David and Stephanie. It was his parents who initially taught him his trade. Though Michael had the onset of Parkinson's, the last time I saw him he was using another form of scissors. He had garden clippers in his hand. He was pruning his front garden. We laughed when I brought this to his attention! I will miss him.

I was privileged to work with Michael since 1971. He was a patient teacher and great friend. I have many fond memories of our great trips to New York and abroad attending Intercoiffure meetings and events where he served many years as its President Mondial and was admired by all our industry colleagues.
Michael was a magnet, always surrounded by people listening to his funny jokes and stories at the many parties, dinners and events that he held for the staff.
Michael was a very special person in my life and I will miss him.

I knew Michael from Beacon Hall. He loved to compete in the Member-Guest events and I remember being partnered up in a group with him when he made his last playoff in the 1-day Member-Guest event. He was complaining about the distance that he had lost but he was a fierce competitor and he made every single putt that day. Rest in peace Michael. My deepest condolences to his family.

We will never forget our visit to Toronto when Michael took the afternoon off to show us around. He had an amazing personality and we enjoyed his "easy-going" company a lot.
May he rest in peace. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

As one time passing by his chair and listening to a conversation he had with a client. Client said " The last time you cut my hair it was great hope it comes out the same.
His reply to her was" Somedays we have good days somedays we have bad days"
Something I will always remember and is so true in life.

I met my Brother Michael for the first time when he was 12 years old and I was 8 years old, and He returned from his Aunts farm in Brenken Germany, where he had lived during the war, to escape the bombing in Hamburg Germany. We had six years of Family life together before he left for Canada at age 18 to avoid conscription. I have many good memories of our life together, and our visits over the years. Our family is sad that Michael is no longer alive, but we know that he was suffering and we wish him and his family eternal Peace.
