Michael J. Kotecki, age 63, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, IL. He was born on July 8, 1960 in Chicago, IL.
Mike is survived by his best friend and devoted wife of 32 years, Erika (nee Rebel); his loving children, Krystal (Ryan) Wujcik of Aurora, IL, Kim (Kevin) Dehlinger of Naperville, IL and Anthony Kotecki of Crest Hill, IL; his cherished granddaughter, Madison Dehlinger; his wonderful brother, Edward (Dawn) Kotecki of Oswego, IL; his dear parents-in-law, Catherine and John Rebel of Round Lake, IL and brothers-in-law, Nick (the late Ruza) Rebel of Round Lake Beach, IL and John (Patti) Rebel of Ave Maria, FL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Arlene Kotecki.
Mike grew up in Chicago and attended St. Mary Elementary School. He graduated from Lane Tech High School, Class of 1978 and later earned his bachelor's degree from DeVry University.
A devout Catholic, Mike was a longtime member of St. Anne Catholic Church in Oswego where he was a Lector. Since his move to Crest Hill, he was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Shorewood. He was always involved in his children's activities and volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader for his son's Troop in Oswego. Bowling was a big part of Mike's life, and he met Erika at a bowling alley in Chicago on a Friday night many years ago. That chance meeting blessed him with many years of happiness and a family that will always continue to share the love he gave them with one another.
All are invited to gather for a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, April 6, 10:00 AM at Holy Family Parish, 600 Brook Forest Ave. (Rt 59), Shorewood. Interment will be private.
Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Plainfield, was entrusted with arrangements.
