Michael De La Cruz, a cherished soul known for his loving nature, thoughtful gestures, and kind heart, passed away peacefully in his hometown of Austin, Texas, on March 30, 2024. Born on September 22, 1980, also in Austin, Michael's life was a testament to the enduring bonds of family and the simple joys that life can bring.
Michael's journey began as the beloved son of David De La Cruz and Elisa Aguilar. His life was enriched by the close relationships with his siblings, Manuel Aguilar, Ernestina Aguilar, and David De La Cruz Jr. The joy of Michael's life was his own family, his son Michael De La Cruz and his daughter, Alexandra De La Cruz; Grandson Adonis Arrellano who were the lights of his life and his greatest accomplishments.
From a young age, Michael exhibited an innate kindness that defined his interactions with everyone he met. He carried this trait into every aspect of his life, making him a friend to many and a stranger to none. Michael was the embodiment of thoughtfulness, always putting others before himself, and ensuring that those around him felt loved and appreciated.
Michael's passion for fishing was well-known, a hobby that allowed him to embrace the serenity of nature and the pleasure of quiet moments. His love for the sport was only surpassed by his love for his family, with whom he shared many memorable fishing trips. These outings were not so much about the catch but rather the laughter, stories, and bonds that were strengthened with every cast of the line.
Michael's departure from this world leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, yet his spirit will continue to live on through the cherished memories he created with his loved ones. As we say goodbye to Michael De La Cruz, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love, and a life that will forever inspire us to be more loving, more thoughtful, and kinder to one another. In the quiet waters where the fish swim freely and the laughter of his family echoes, there we will remember Michael-our beloved father, son, brother, and friend. Though he may have left the shores of our world, his memory will forever be a beacon of warmth and love in the hearts of those he touched.
A Public Visitation will be at Harrell Funeral Homes 5:00PM - 8:00PM Thursday April 18th with a rosary beginning at 7:00PM.
A public mass will be held 12:00 PM Friday April 19th at Dolores Catholic Church.
