Michael Steven LaGrant, 67, of Sterling Heights, Michigan, passed away on March 1, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was born to Robert and the late Agnes (Stamatellos) LaGrant on April 24, 1953, in Detroit. He was a 1971 graduate of Warren Cousino High School and worked as a telecommunications technician for many years.
Michael was known for his brilliant intellect, quick wit, and love of all animals, especially the many stray cats he took in over the years. He was a life-long voracious reader who could discuss diverse topics ranging from science to history to popular culture. He could build anything with some scrap wood and his creativity. He left volumes of his writing that included unique observations gleaned from a keen curiosity of the world. Most notably, his artistic talents will be appreciated by his surviving family, who now enjoy his beautiful paintings and photography. His favorite pastime was spending the day in nature, especially at Detroit’s Belle Isle, and taking amazing photographs.
Michael is survived by his sisters: Mary (Gary) Jacobs, Kelly (Richard) Nawrocki, and Roberta Susan (Thomas) Evans. Dearest uncle to Lindsay, Corrie, Allison, Amanda, and Nick, and great-uncle to many.
He is buried at Cedar Valley Cemetery in Twining, Michigan.
