Michael Gregory Land

Michael Gregory Land passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at his home. Born on September 17, 1956, in San Diego, California to John Henry Land (native to Butler, Alabama) and Doris Irene Pomerenke (native to Michigan), Michael was the grandson of John Wimberly and Maude Guinn Land of Butler, and Ferdinand (Fred) and Hildegarde (Hilda) Pomerenke of Germany.

Michael is survived by his older brothers, Frank (Sam) Michael Land (Chrissie) of Butler and John Frederic Land (Rachel) of Vancouver, WA, and by his younger brother, Mark Henry Land of Lakeview, AL. He was preceded in death by his older sister, Sally Louise Land.

Michael often worked with his father as a house and industrial painter and as a construction laborer. An avid guitarist, music composer, and fine artist, Michael fondly recalled having some of his drawings reviewed once by a member of the royal family in England. Michael was also deeply interested in medical science and advanced treatments of exotic ailments and diseases, and kept abreast of such treatments throughout his life. In his later years, Michael became a collector of unusual items and memorabilia of great value to him, and kept daily journals of his life.

Always friendly and smiling, always willing to give a hand and advice, Michael will be missed by all who knew him.
