Fr. Leckie studied for the priesthood at Our Lady of Providence Seminary and St. Mary's University in Baltimore. He was ordained on July 30, 1976 in St. James Church in West Warwick. In retirement, he was employed by the Valley Railroad Co, a heritage railroad based in Essex, CT.

Visiting hours will be held from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 28, 2025 at S.R. Avery Funeral Home, 3-A Bank St, Hope Valley, RI. A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph's Church, 1105 Main Street, Hope Valley, at 9:30 AM on Saturday, November 29, 2025.
