Michael E LeClair, age 79 died unexpectedly at his home in Colchester, VT on August 19, 2024. On August 19th, I lost my whole world, my best friend, lover and forever partner. I thank God for the time I had with Michael, but it was time for him to go and be with Michael Jr.
Michael born May 21, 1945, son of the late Ernest and Doris (Trudell) LeClair, grew up in
Essex Junction, VT where he graduated high school. During that time, he acquired his pilot license at the age of 16. He then joined the US Navy right out of high school in 1964 and was stationed in Puerto Rico. He spent time at sea as a 3rd class Yeoman. He then became a chauffeur for high-ranking officers. In 1968 after serving for the Navy, he was honorably discharged. He then started working for Vermont Transit. Being with the company for over 40 years as a driver, then later in years moving up to Superintendent of Operations until his retirement in 2008. As a driver he chartered many cross-country trips, which he loved telling stories of his adventures. Michael loved to reminisce for hours about his bussing years especially with all his bussing buddies. Michael was a motorcycle enthusiast. Loved his Trike, and enjoyed riding with his friends.
Among his many activities he enjoyed dancing, camping, watching races and driving his BMW sports car. He especially enjoyed spending time with Diane, family and friends, socializing and reminiscing of the past.
Michael and Diane did a lot of traveling, including his dream trip to Alaska.
Michael was a member of North Start Lodge # 12 F & AM in Richmond, Scottish Rite Lodge in Burlington, and American Legion in Colchester. Throughout his life, he made so many of friends. Michael was Diane's whole world. They each would always tell others, They wished they would have met sooner so they could have loved each other longer.
He leaves behind the love of his life, Diane Arnold Desautels. Diane's two sons, Jason and his partner Rachell Dawn (Shell) of Milton, and Richard and his wife Ruth of Hollywood, Fl and their daughter Olivia who loved her grandpa! His daughter Dianne and Jimmy Jacobs of Derby, VT and their family. His favorite cousin Suzie Petrie of So. Carolina He also leaves behind Diane's family and a niece, several nephews and cousins, whom all loved him to the moon. Best friends Ray Allaire of Colchester, Rodger Brassard of So. Burlington and Stan Willard of Colchester.
He is predeceased by his son Michael Jr in 1992. His sister Maureen L Douglas in 1994.
