Michael Lehman MD

The community of Lubbock has lost one of its most colorful characters. Michael Lehman, "Dr. Mike or Mikey", 71, of Lubbock passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023. His life revolved around his practice as a physician, his wife Evelyn, playing golf, and his immediate family.
He was born in Dallas, TX on September 3, 1951, to Dr. Joe and Sylvia Moss Lehman. He grew up in Lubbock with his sisters Mickey and Rene'. He was a graduate of Monterey High School and attended the University of Oklahoma where he earned his degree in pharmacy before proceeding on to Texas Tech University Health Science College where he received his medical degree. He then moved on to his residency in Dermatology at the University of Arkansas. On June 3, 1990, he married Evelyn Ugulano whom he met in Little Rock, Arkansas while he was pursuing his residency. Upon completion of his training, Mike and his wife Evelyn moved to Lubbock and joined his father Dr. Joe Lehman, and his uncle Dr. Robert Lehman of Lehman Dermatology Clinic where he found his passion for caring for patients and serving the medical community for the rest of his career.
Dr. Mike served in the national guard at Fort Ord, California. He was also affiliated with Covenant Hospital, Lubbock Heart and Surgical Hospital, and Burkhart Center for Autism. He was board certified in both Texas and Oklahoma. He was an active member of the Lubbock-Crosby-Garza County Medical Association, Texas Medical Association, American Academy of Dermatology, and the Texas Dermatology Society. He specialized in general and cosmetic Dermatology as well as Laser surgery.
Mike was tenacious about his landscape and was highly visible in the neighborhood as the cigar-smoking, leaf-blowing, lawnmower-riding DIY yard guy Large and in charge! Stories abound of Mikey's antics on the golf course, lovingly retold amongst his broad band-of-brother golfers. He will be forever remembered for his love of healing and generous devotion to multi-generations of patients from coast to coast. Dr. Mike will be missed by the staff at Lehman Dermatology and his extended family. Their commitment to Mike and long-standing relationships with patients provided much pride and joy in his practice.
Michael is survived by his wife Evelyn of 32 years, his sister Mickey Lehman Gross and husband Steven of San Antonio, and his sister Rene' Lehman of Dallas. Survivors also include his niece Shana Lehman Fishman and husband Jason of Dallas, along with his great nieces Madison and Mallory whom he adored; brother-in-law Peter Ugulano wife Bonnie, sister-in-law Bunny Ugulano along with numerous nieces and nephews of New Orleans.
Celebration of Life services will be held Friday, January 27, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at Kent Hance Chapel, followed by a reception at the Merket Alumni Center on the Texas Tech University Campus.
