Michael Steven Lester

Michael "Mike" Steven Lester, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on June 11, 2025, at UPMC-Western Maryland. Mike was a 20+ years plus resident of Leesburg, VA, before relocating to West Virginia in 2023.

Born August 22, 1957, in Seattle, WA, he was the son of the late Galen Bernard Lester and Martha Ann (Shimota) Lester.

Mike earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Washington.

His career involved being an aerospace engineer for Boeing and a technical solutions architect for various companies, ending his career with General Dynamics IT. During his career, Mike had many significant accomplishments, including working as a member of the teams supporting NASA with the designs of the international Space Station and the Hubble telescope.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, do-it-yourself home improvement projects and visiting local Virginia wineries, as well as going to the shooting range with friends.

Family members include his beloved wife of 22 years, Beverly (Digby) Lester; three cherished daughters, Lauren Sweitzer (Ben) and children Olivia and Jacob, Natalie Geno (Bryan) and children Bryson and Dayne, and Sarah Scott (Mark) and children Charlotte and Margaret; siblings, Lawrence Lester, Kathy Keagle, and the late Paul Lester; and, many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cumberland, on Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11 AM.
