Michael Long

Michael James Long, 66, of Sanford, died Monday morning, January 5, 2026, at his home. He was born August 29, 1959, in Midland. Mike attended school in Midland, graduating from H.H. Dow High School. Mike loved listening to hard rock music while playing his guitar, "The louder, the better." He was employed at D & R Floor Covering in Midland for over 30 years. Mike enjoyed family gatherings, BBQ was his favorite, and he considered himself a "master griller". Pairing that with his peppermint schnapps, he was a contented man.
On January 18, 1977, Mike married the former Tammi Jo Curley in Midland, a strong dedicated marriage of almost 49 years. She survives him, as do his children, Jennifer (Eon) Gant of Saginaw, Michael (Melissa) Long of Sanford, Stacey (Travis) Carter of Newberry, Bobbie (her significant other Ron) Long of Midland; grandchildren, Bryanna (Cody) Ferrett, Latosha (Jimmy) Tetreau, John (Annastosha) Williamson, Tyler Ignace, Jasmine Lambert, Eric Contois, Justine Contois, Christopher Long, Daniel (Sarah) Croutch, Allen (Jordan) Croutch, Luc Blau, Kamron Blau, Zackery Carter, Josh Carter, Noah Carter, Tamara Long, Zachery Stuckmann, Katharina Stuckmann, and Eathan Stuckmann; and 15 great grandchildren. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Mertin and Eleanor Long, his grandson, Domenic Tripp, great grandchild Connor Ferrett, a brother, Jeff Long, and his mother-in-law, Barbara Curley.
Family services will take place at a later date. The family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Cancer Services of Midland.
