Michael "Mike" Lucash, Jr., 85, entered into eternal life on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital – Somerset in Somerville, New Jersey, surrounded by his loving and supportive children. Born in McAdoo, Pennsylvania, son to the late Michael and Elizabeth Lucash, he was a lifelong resident of
Manville, New Jersey.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he developed a deep sense of discipline, loyalty, and commitment that carried into every part of his life. After his service, he built a long and dedicated career, first at the Johns-Manville Corporation in Manville, and later at Union Carbide/Dow Chemical in Somerset, New Jersey where he worked until his retirement in 2009. Known as a dependable and hardworking man, Mike took great pride in providing for his family.
Faith and community were central to Mike's life. He was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, New Jersey where he was active for many years in the Holy Name Society. His deep-rooted faith shaped the way he lived - with kindness, humility, and gratitude.
Above all, Mike was a family man. He was a devoted husband to his late wife of 54 years, Patricia, with whom he shared a life full of love, laughter, and devotion. Together, they built a home that welcomed family and friends with open arms. Mike cherished time with his children and grandchildren, finding his greatest joy in family gatherings, holiday celebrations, and summer picnics. Whether sitting at the head of the table, sharing stories from his younger years, or watching his grandsons grow, Mike was happiest when surrounded by those he loved. Additionally, during some of his leisure time, Mike enjoyed watching Western films.
Mike will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering love for his family. He had a gift for making others feel cared for, whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or his quiet but steady presence. His legacy will live on in the values he instilled in his children and grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mike was predeceased by his loving wife Patricia, his brother Stephen Lucash and sister-in-law Martha, his sister-in-law Rosie Lucash, and brother-in-law Gerald Liedl.
