Michael Lujan, a beloved father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 17, 2023, in Austin, Texas. He was born on February 22, 1972, in El Paso, Texas, to Cipriano Salvador Lujan and Frances Escontrias Duran. Michael was the middle child of three children. He was raised in El Paso but moved to Austin a few years after graduating from high school.
Michael attended Capital City Trade and Technical School where he received his certification in automobile mechanics. He worked for various automotive dealerships as a mechanic, as well as Yellow Cab. Most recently, he was employed with Fleet Services for City of Austin as a mechanic. He enjoyed working on a variety of city vehicles, as well as helping to train interns during his tenure.
Michael was preceded in death by his mother Frances Duran, stepmother Margie Lujan, grandparents Fernando and Sofia Duran, and Salvador and Julia Lujan. He is survived by his three beautiful daughters that he shared with Shannan Ruiz. His daughters Evangelyna Ruiz-Lujan, Raven Ruiz-Lujan, and Mykaela Ruiz-Lujan all reside in the Austin area with their significant others Isaac Mata, Cameron Muir, and Gustavo Baza. Michael enjoyed being pawpaw to his two grandchildren, Isaac Cipriano Mata and Catalina Baza. He is also survived by his father, Cipriano Lujan, who still resides in the El Paso area, his sister, Michelle Cereceres, and brother-in-law, Ray Cereceres, who reside in Round Rock, brother Matthew Lujan, who resides in the Boston area and brother David Little, who resides in Houston.
Michael had a love of muscle cars, motorcycles, guitars and music. In his spare time when he was not with his children or grandchildren, Michael could be found working on cars, trucks, and motorcycles or taking guitar lessons.
Michael will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of strength and perseverance in the midst of challenges will continue to inspire all those who knew him.
