Michael Rocco "Mike" Mauro

Michael Rocco Mauro, born on November 28, 1956, in Elmont, NY to Michael Philip Mauro and Katherine Mauro, passed away on May 5, 2024. He is survived by his mother Kathy, sister Louann and her husband Warren, his beloved wife Susan, daughter Marissa and her fiancé Rich, son Rocco and his wife Cinthia, and his cherished grandchildren Chloe and Luna.
Music was woven into every part of Mike's life, a love that began at age 7 when his mother bought him his first guitar, the instrument too big for him to carry around without help. A devoted Christian, he later played guitar with his good friends in various worship ensembles within the churches he attended in New York and eventually Florida.
An enthusiastic cook, Mike was always looking for a new dish to try for the first time. He loved preparing large meals for loved ones, humorously noting he never mastered cooking for just one.
Mike was a friend first, always quick with a joke and genuinely eager to meet new people. He dedicated 26 years of his life to working at Home Depot, which was less of a job than the origin story of some of his closest friendships.
He is also survived by his dearest friend, a rescue named Albie - a cat as gentle (and big) as Mike's own heart.
A service to celebrate Mike's life and love will be held on Friday May 24, 2024 at Loyless Funeral Home in Land O' Lakes, Florida. He will be remembered for his humor, sincerity, unwavering faith, and the joy he brought to everyone that ever had the pleasure of knowing him.
