Michael (Mike) M. McAllister passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Born on October 5, 1942 to James & Mildred (Danner) McAllister. Mike graduated from Premontre High in 1961 and entered the Army Reserves, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood U.S. Army Training Center. Mike proudly worked for Green Bay Packaging for over 40 years.
When Mike met his one true love, Dorothy E. Trofka, it was love at 1st sight; but not so much for Dorothy, but Mike's Irish charm won her over and they were united in marriage at St. Benedict's Catholic Church on October 19, 1963. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2023. They resided in Suamico their entire married life, living on Dorothy's family's homestead which Mike was very proud of. Mike and Dorothy made the most of their retirement years, spending time with their 9 grandchildren, volunteering, traveling the United States and Canada with family members, his daily trips "to town" to shop at Fleet Farm, Menards and as he put it, you never know what deals you might find. Mike enjoyed going to the YMCA in Howard.
Mike's Catholic faith was extremely important to him and was a faithful servant. He ALWAYS had a positive attitude and was always there to lend a helping hand.
Mike is survived by his wife Dorothy, his wonderful and loving children and their spouses who he was extremely proud of; Colleen (James) Fritsche, Jenifer (James) Marcusen, Ken McAllister, Tim (Tracy) McAllister, Melinda (Jeff) Baker, his beloved grandchildren, Erin (Adam) Fandre, Danielle (Andrew) Stillwell, Mason, Blake, & Marisa McAllister, Madelyn Baker (Fiance Seth), Mia, Sam & Ben Baker. Mike was beyond excited when he found out he was going to be a Great-Grandfather and he met Braelyn Stillwell who was born June 13, 2023, his wonderful siblings and their spouses; Lloyd (Anna) McAllister, Dave (Lois) McAllister, Bonnie McAllister, Bob (Kathy) McAllister; his sister-in-law Carol Trofka. Mike is further survived by all of his many special nieces and nephews along with their families.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law: Patricia & Roger VanHemerlyk, brother Richard, his in-laws: John & Teresa Trofka, brothers-in-law: Jerome Trofka, Thomas Trofka, Sylvester & Eleanor Trofka, sister-in-law: Evelyn & Michael Christman, nephew: Ronald Trofka, and a very special cousin: Edward (Eddie) McAllister.
A celebration of Mike's life will take place Saturday February 10th, 2024 at St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Visitation from 9:00 - 11:00 am, Mass to follow at 11:00 am.
Mike's family would like to acknowledge the following: Unity Hospice especially Ashley and Kathy, Dr. Scott and Cindy Stillwell of Stillwell Family Medicine, Home Instead, Jessie at Care Patrol, and the INCREDIBLE staff at Emerald Bay and Alpha Senior Concepts in Suamico. We are forever grateful to each and everyone of you for all your support, care and compassion to both Mike and Dorothy. We could not have traveled this journey without you.
Dad, you were so very strong and brave these past two years as you overcame so many obstacles and challenges with your health. Dad, we got it from here & we promise you we will take care of Mom until you are together again. We were so incredibly blessed to have an amazing father and grandfather. You will be with us always & forever. May the road rise to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm on your face, may the rains fall soft upon your fields, and until we meet again may the Lord hold you in the palm of his hand.
