In Loving Memory of Michael Scott McClanahan
June 4, 1961 – August 30, 2025
Michael Scott McClanahan, age 64, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, in Winter Springs, Florida, surrounded by love.
Michael was a gentle soul with a brilliant mind-a man who could speak thoughtfully on nearly any subject and always had a story tucked away, especially when it came to his beloved Zippo lighter collection. Each lighter held a memory, a moment in time.
Before building a long career with the State of Florida as an electrician and maintenance technician, Michael proudly served in the United States Air Force. He carried a sense of duty and precision in everything he did. He believed in doing things right.
A lifelong fan of classic rock, Michael found joy in the music of Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood Mac and the like. In the face of his ALS diagnosis, Michael remained steady and uncomplaining-his strength and grace never wavered.
Michael's quiet wisdom, wit, and unwavering heart will be remembered always.
He is survived by his mother, Kathleen McClanahan, and his sisters: Lori Ann Thompson, Cara Lynn Silvasman, Tammy Jo Flowers, and Shari Renee McClanahan.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1654 N Semoran Blvd, Orlando, FL 32807. Viewing starting at 9:00, service will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by burial at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, Florida, processing from Lane "C."
In honor of Michael's life and courage, memorial contributions may be made to the ALS Association: www.als.org/get-involved/ways-give
