FRANKLIN MATTHEW "MATT" MCCLANAHAN, 57, of Leemaster, VA, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN. Born in Grundy, VA, he was the son of Virginia (Stiltner) McClanahan and the late William C. McClanahan. Upon graduating high school, he joined the United States Army as 63 Charlie MOS track mechanic. His experience led him to Fork Knox, Germany and Fort Seal. Immediately following, he joined the National Guard from 1989 to 1998. He was always a wonderful carpenter and became a Class B contractor. In 2008, he began working at Noah Horn Well Drilling and remained a loyal, fun-loving, hard working employee and friend. He was a wonderful, funny, big-hearted family man and Patriot.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, William McClanahan Jr. and great-niece Sophia Lester.

Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Virginia (Stiltner) McClanahan, his love – Penny Fletcher McClanahan; Daughters: Linnea and Lindsay; Son-in-Law: Aaron; Brother: Marcus McClanahan; Sister: Debbie Hagy; Sisters-in-Law: Lisa McClanahan and Ondrea McClanahan and nieces and nephews: William, Sarah, John, Rebekah, Will and Marc.

In lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at support.woundedwarriorproject.org.

Funeral Services for FRANKLIN MATTHEW "MATT" MCCLANAHAN will be conducted Friday, September 5, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at Raven Assembly of God, Raven, VA, with Pastors: Dusty Vandyke and Shane Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be Jonathan Brown, Rhudy Keith, Jamie Caldwell, Leon Boyd, Darrell Boyd, Jamison Jewell, Jack Phillips and Shawn Brown.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the Employees of Noah Horn Well Drilling Inc.

Full Military Rites will be conducted at the cemetery by members of John Ratliff Post No. 164 of the American Legion and Childs-Gentry Post No. 7360 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
