Helen Cochran Stacy

HELEN COCHRAN STACY, 77 years of age, formerly of Grundy, VA, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, July 16, 2025, surrounded by her family at home in Mechanicsville, VA. Born February 13, 1948, in Grundy, VA, she was the daughter of the late George Cochran, Jr. and Ethel Stiltner Cochran.

After graduating from Grundy High School in 1966, she started working as a legal secretary for Coleman, Cecil, and Robertson Law Firm. In 1968, she began working for Gerald P. Coleman, Esq. PC, specializing in real estate. They worked together and leaned on each other for the next 46 years. After working another two years at the Gooch Law Firm, she finally retired. She dedicated 50 years of her life working in law, continuing to learn, and building relationships in the community; she wouldn't have had it any other way.

Helen loved the Lord, was of the Christian faith, and was a member of the Grundy Church of Christ. She was the matriarch of our family and loved us all unconditionally. She loved to travel, shop, read, spend time with family (especially her grandchildren), and reminisce about the good old days. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Waldron Stacy; sister, Shirley Cochran Justus; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Waldron and Chloe Stacy; sister-in-law, Lois Dales, brothers-in-law, David "Dave" Justus, Jr., Larry (Kathy) Stacy, and Doug (Ola Gay) Stacy.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Stacy and wife Thuy Ha of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Paige Stacy Elswick and husband Matthew of Mechanicsville, VA.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Chloe Elswick, Jameson Stacy, Lucas Elswick, and Claire Elswick; several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Grundy Church of Christ Wednesday, July 30, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Funeral services for HELEN COCHRAN STACY will be held Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Church of Christ, Grundy, VA, with Evangelist Dennis Wimmer officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Park, Big Rock, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be James Horn, Chris Hubbard, Tommy Skeens, Jerry Skeens, Eddie Skeens, and Robert Skeens.
