Michael Joseph McGeever

Michael Joseph McGeever, 71 years old, a native of Mobile, Alabama and resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana passed away on July 16, 2025.

He was a proud graduate of Delta State University where he was a member of the golf team. He was a member of The Professional Golfers’ Association for 45 years and enjoyed a lengthy career as a Head Golf Professional. He was awarded Golf Professional of the Year by the Gulf States Section of the PGA in 1995.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dolly Lafont McGeever, his son, Brooks (Katie), his grandchildren, Brody and Laurel, his sisters Michelle Orr (James, Jr.) and Maureen Krison, his brothers-in-law Vic Lafont and Toby Lafont (Jenny), his sisters-in-law, Angela Cheramie (Jody) and Carmen Pitre (Rebecca) and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Helen McGeever, his uncle Donald Hyde, his nephew James “Trey” Orr, III, his father and mother-in-law Victor and Rosemary Lafont and his brother-in-law Donald “Biloxi” Lafont.

The services were held privately at St. Joseph Abbey in Covington, LA.
