Michael Edward McInerney, age 68, of Clarkston, Michigan, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 1st, 2026. Born on May 21, 1957, in

Mike was a proud graduate of the University of Detroit Jesuit High School & Academy, Class of 1975, and went on to earn his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, Class of 1980, before receiving his Juris Doctor from the Detroit College of Law, Class of 1983. He built a distinguished career as an attorney and real estate consultant, beginning at Kotz, Sangster, McInerney & Wysocki, P.C. (1983–1995), followed by Becker Group, Inc. (1995–1998), and Becker Ventures, LLC (1998–2007). In 2007, Mike founded MKM Consulting, Inc., where he served for the remainder of his career. Known for his integrity, sound judgment, and ability to build lasting relationships, Mike was admired by colleagues and clients alike.
On July 31, 1982, Mike married the love of his life, Kim Rabidoux McInerney, at St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Church. Their marriage of more than 43 years was a beautiful testament to love, faith, and partnership. Together they raised three children: Andrew (Emily), Kayley Haines (Corey), and Marin Krolczyk (Eric). Mike was never prouder than when talking about his children and their accomplishments. Mike was deeply involved in all of his children's extracurricular activities, and he never missed a sports game or recital.
Mike was also a devoted and proud grandfather to Hudson and Hunter Haines, and he eagerly awaited the arrival of his third grandchild, a baby boy, due to Marin and Eric in January.
In addition to his immediate family, Mike is survived by his siblings: Mark (Judi), Cathy Thomas, Anne, and Terry (Barbara), as well as several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, James and Elizabeth, and his brother-in-law, John Thomas.
A lifelong servant to his community and the Church, Mike gave generously of his time, leadership, and resources. He was a volunteer and donor to the Archdiocese of Detroit and Sacred Heart Seminary since 2000; a devoted member of the Cardinal Club of Detroit since 2004, serving on the board from 2007 to 2013 and as President in 2012; and a member of Bloomfield Hills Country Club since 1998, serving on its board from 2006 to 2012 and as President in 2012. Mike was also deeply involved with the YMCA of Metropolitan Detroit, serving on the board since 2000, on the Executive Committee from 2014 to the present, and as Board Chair from 2020 to 2022. His first parish, St. Hugo of the Hills Catholic Church, was central to his life, where he served on the Parish Pastoral Council, Parish Finance Council, and as Chair of the CLT Major Gifts Committee. Later, Mike became a parishioner at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, where he also served on the Parish Council. In addition, he served on the boards of Recovery Park Detroit, Inclusively Fit, and Ceciliaville-Detroit.
Mike and Kim spent 30 years in Bloomfield Hills before making Clarkston their home for the last decade. Wherever he lived, he was known for his warmth, generosity, and the way he brought people together. Mike was caring, sincere, engaging, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He lived life to the absolute fullest and took his greatest joy in the successes and happiness of his children and grandchildren. As a season ticket holder at Michigan Stadium for over 50 years, Mike enjoyed a lifelong passion for University of Michigan athletics and Detroit sports. He was also an avid golfer and swimmer. Mike was always up for a good time, a good laugh, and a good story.
