Sylvia Williams

Sylvia Williams passed away on January 1, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on September 9, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to the late Cesare and Linda D'Alfonso.

Sylvia earned her bachelor's degree in education from Eastern Michigan University and began her career as a teacher. She later stepped away from the profession to devote herself fully to raising her children. Once they entered school themselves, she returned to education through substitute teaching and later administrative work, continuing her lifelong commitment to learning and service.

She was married for 54 years to her beloved husband, the late Christopher Williams. Together they shared a life rich in creativity and adventure. Sylvia was the loving mother of Victoria Connor (Jim) and the late Cara Williams, and a proud grandmother of Alex Connor and Zach Connor. She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Darden, and is survived by her niece, Clatice Darden, and nephew, James Darden (Terry).

Sylvia had many creative passions. She enjoyed sewing and embroidery and took great pride in supporting her husband's blacksmithing work. She served for many years as the editor of the Michigan Artist Blacksmith Association newsletter, a role that reflected both her dedication and attention to detail. Sylvia and Christopher also loved camping together and treasured their trips to Colonial Williamsburg.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at 11:00AM at the San Marino Club, 1685 E Big Beaver Rd, Troy, MI 48083.

Memorial donations in Sylvia's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, in honor of her late daughter Cara, to the American Diabetes Association or to MI Humane, in honor of her faithful companion, Bart, and the many Williams family dogs that came before him.
