Michael Anthony McKee Jr., 27, of Seguin, TX, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 6, 2025.
Michael was born on December 22, 1997, in Rockford, IL, the son of Michael and Janice (Schmidt) McKee. Michael attended Harlem High School in Machesney Park. He was very athletic and could excel at any sport. Michael absolutely loved all things Star Wars and Marvel, playing video games, cards against humanity with his family, singing and listening to music, and collecting Funko pop characters.
Michael is survived by his parents, Michael and Janice McKee; siblings, Jeremy McKee, Miranda McKee (Sam Milliman), Joshua McKee and Nathan McKee; nieces, Anastasia Floyd and Aniah McKee; nephews, Dominic Floyd and Josh Milliman; numerous cousins, aunts and uncles; girlfriend, Kerry Nunez and special friends, Raven Lynne and Trevor Maple, as well as his extended family in Texas, Kori, Crystal and Kota. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lillian McKee (Gary Boulware); maternal grandfather, Duane “Smitty” Schmidt; maternal great-grandparents, Leonard (Geraldine) Thorsbakken and great-grandmother, Virgina Ulrich; maternal great-great-grandfather, Milford Stout.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the McKee family to be established at a later date. In honor of Michael’s love of Star Wars, the family encourages all those attending the service to wear your best Star Wars gear or memorabilia.
A visitation for Michael will take place at Fitzgerald Funeral Home & Crematory, 1860 S. Mulford Rd., Rockford, IL 61108, on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 4:00 through 7:00 p.m.
