It's with heavy hearts, we say goodbye to Michael John McManamon, who passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on October 16, 1966, in Garden City, Michigan, Mike grew up with a strong work ethic, a love for the outdoors, and a knack for fixing just about anything. He graduated from Milford High School and went on to become a sheet metal worker with Local 80, but he was much more than that-he was a jack-of-all-trades who could turn a pile of scrap into something useful and always had a project (or five) in the works.
More than anything, Mike was a family man. He shared a lifetime of love and laughter with his wife, Carol, who was always by his side through every adventure. Together, they built a home filled with hard work, love, and the kind of lessons you don't learn in a classroom.
Mike was the proud father of five sons: Jake, Danny, Mitchell, Andrew, and Luke. He taught them the value of hard work, how to fix things instead of replacing them, and the importance of enjoying life's simple pleasures-whether it was a good day out on the lake boating, a successful hunt, or just seasoning up a nice cut of meat to put in the smoker, just like his late father Michael did. He wasn't just a dad; he was their role model who paved the way for all their hobbies enjoyed today; from wake-boarding, slalom skiing, and dirt biking to winter sports such as: hockey, skiing and snowboarding. Although a man of few words, his subtle sarcasm could always make them laugh, no matter what.
As life went on, Mike's family grew, and he welcomed his daughter-in-laws with open arms, treating them like his own. He absolutely loved being a grandpa to his grandchildren, who adored their time with him. He was always the one to take them for a ride on the tractor until they fell asleep.
Mike is also survived by his mother (Mary Lou), who raised him to be the hardworking, self-sufficient man he became, and by his two brothers and sister (Susan, David and Richard), who shared in his love for mischief, adventure, and family traditions. His extended family, countless friends, and local 80 buddies will forever remember his easy going nature, quick wit, and ability to make everyone feel welcome.
If there was one place Mike truly loved, it was his property up north. Whether he was working on the pole barn, planting trees, working on miscellaneous projects, hunting, fishing, sharing beers with his boys, or just enjoying the peace and quiet, that property was his retreat, and most importantly, his playground. What started as a dream, soon became reality, a gathering place for so many great memories-where Mike put his heart into.
To say he'll be missed doesn't begin to cover it. Mike was the kind of guy who left a lasting impact on everyone he met, with his infectious laugh and mumbling sarcastic remarks, he believed in working hard, taking care of his family, and showing up when it mattered most.
Rest easy, Mike. We know you're up there, fishing the best lakes, hunting the best woods, building something to be enjoyed and keeping an eye on all of us. We'll keep your stories alive, take care of the family you loved so much, always make time for the great outdoors and always try to fix it ourselves before hiring someone to-just like you taught us.

So sorry to hear of Mike's passing. Although I didn't know Mike well, I always enjoyed his company and skills!

Mike installed replacement AC / furnace units in my parents house and my house. He did several projects for my mother after my father passed...making benches, installing hand railings and being a good friend to my mother.

Mike was a great guy and my sincere condolences to Carol, his family and many friends.

Godspeed Mike.
