Michael “Mike” Roger House, age 58, of Enola, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025 at home with family and friends by his side. He is free from pain and is at peace after suffering from Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Mike was born on Thursday, March 10, 1966 in Harrisburg to Grace E (Gutshall) House and the late Roger Jay House. In addition to his father, Mike is preceded in death by his two siblings: Teresa Grace Shank and Shawn Alan House.
Mike’s survivors include his wife of 34 years, Rosemary “Rose” Grace (Partin) House; his son: Jonathan House and wife Ashlee (Mains) of Mechanicsburg; his two granddaughters: Kennedi and Kayleigh House; his mother: Grace (Gutshall) House of Mechanicsburg; his sister: Laurie Raines and husband Jim, of Selbyville, DE; and his beloved canine companion, Ripley.
Mike graduated from Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School in 1985. He worked for a short time at Pomeroys Dept. Store in Camp Hill before joining the U.S. Navy in 1987. He proudly served his country as a Corpsman/Dental Technician and rose to the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class prior to his retirement after 20 years of service. Mike spent much of his time playing competitive games on his phone, solving Sudoku and other mind challenging puzzles. He was an avid football fan and never missed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers or Penn State games. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his faithful dog, Ripley. He also enjoyed being around others and formed friendships easily due to his friendly and helpful disposition. Mike was optimistic with a positive outlook. Despite his illness he consistently maintained a positive attitude. He will be dearly missed by all those fortunate to have been in his life. Mike's final gift was to donate his body to the Humanities Gift Registry where it will be used for studies in the furtherance of scientific medicine. He will live on!
The family will have a private celebration of life at their convenience. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Mike's name to: The Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic, 223 No. Lime St., Lancaster, PA 17602, or The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Rye Brook, NY 10573
