Zachary Paul Gula, 35, of Mechanicsburg, PA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, July 13, 2025. He was born on January 21, 1990, in Peabody, MA, to William and Joann (Fuchs) Gula.
Zach spent most of his life in South Central PA and was a proud graduate of Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School, Class of 2008. Growing up, he was a nurturing and protective big brother, looking out for his family in any way possible. He had a lifelong passion for sports, which he loved sharing with his son, Landon—teaching him all he knew about hockey, baseball, rollerblading, and everything in between.
He was a natural when it came to interacting with others, and he put this gift to good use in the sales industry. He spent a few years in South Carolina, where he started his sales career in timeshares before moving to Florida and transitioning to the moving industry. Early on, Zach was a culinary wiz, becoming an assistant chef as a young man. Though he didn’t pursue this career long-term, he always enjoyed his time in the kitchen and trying foods of all kinds.
Despite his years down south, Zach’s heart was always in Pennsylvania—especially Mechanicsburg. He returned to this area a little over two years ago, embracing his independent spirit. He was supportive of others, energetic and all-in with his endeavors, and always ready to lend a helping hand. With a heart like his, it was easy to see why others felt comfortable in his presence, and why his siblings looked up to him for guidance and love.
Though taken far too soon, Zach’s family finds peace knowing he is watching over them—reunited with his brother, Riley—smiling from above the clouds. He will be deeply missed.
Zach is survived by his beloved family, including his father, William Gula (wife, Michele); mother, Joann Gula; son, Landon Gula; three devoted sisters, Emily Gula, Kaly Turkowsky, and Alyssa Russell; a brother, Ben Barone; his grandparents, William and Sophie Gula, Michael and Doris Ann Kozak, and Bonnie Kelly; and his aunts and uncle, Trisha Aulenbach, and David & Claudia Fuchs. He was preceded in death by his brother, Riley Gula (d. 2021); a loving and involved grandmother, Natalie Fuchs; and his grandfather, John Fuchs, Jr.
