Michael Leo Stieve, age 72, of Oscoda, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 15, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 6063 Fenton Road, Grand Blanc. Pastor Jeff Frechette will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions in Michael’s name to the Kids Hunting Foundation, 31258 600th Street, Millville, Mn, 55957.
Mike was born on July 16, 1953, in Flint, the son of the late Leo and Evelyn (Burtch) Stieve. He graduated from Kearsley High School, Class of 1971. In his younger years, he attended St. Mark’s Lutheran Church with his parents. Mike was active in several sports, including golf, football, and boxing in the Golden Gloves. He worked for over 30 years at General Motors as a tool and die maker, retiring from Plant 38. Mike also volunteered with the Genesee Township Fire Department, Station 2. He met Barbie Graczyk at the Arrowhead Vets Club, and they were united in marriage on June 19, 2010, in Frankenmuth. After retirement, they moved to Oscoda on Lake Van Etten, where Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, and life on the lake. He could often be found in the garage for “Beer30” with his many friends and family.
Mike is survived by his wife, Barbie; children, Jennifer Lewis, Jill (Bronson) Follick, Jodi Hunter, and Amber (Danny) Birch; grandchildren, Katelyn (Kyle) McDowell, Jacob Bleau, Haven Hunter, and Logan Hunter; in-laws, Tom (Lyn) Graczyk, Patty Olds, and Debbie Owens; and nephew, Derek Christian.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Joseph Bleau; his son-in-law, Kerry Lewis; his sister, Marcia Christian; his brother, David Coulter; brother-in-law, John Graczyk and Kurt Olds; and niece, Dawn Thomas. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
