INDIANAPOLIS - MICHAEL D. MILLS
On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Michael, known to his family best as Mike, passed away at IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Just one day before, Mike had been involved in a serious car accident which he survived. The Lord ultimately called him home to Heaven where the family is confident, he is healed of ALL his pain and brokenness. We have no doubt when he got to Heaven, he was told "Well done good and faithful servant" because he was always serving others and trying to love like Jesus. He cared for everyone and never knew a stranger. We are also getting comfort knowing that Mike and Diane's unborn baby (2007) in Heaven is being spoiled by Daddy.
Mike was born on January 14, 1967, in Water Valley, Mississippi to Gene and James "Jimmy" Mills. Mike married Kim Young in 1987, and they welcomed to the world son, Douglas and daughter, Jennifer. In 1998, Mike married Diane Vire Sprague, and he became stepfather to Kristin and Jenna Sprague.
Mike will be remembered for loving his wife, Diane Mills, his kids and grandkids, and entire family. He enjoyed golf, NASCAR, beer, and travelling. He was a very dedicated worker, so much so, that he had a hard time saying no to anyone.
Mike is survived by his wife Diane Mills, his children; Douglas Mills (Mallory), Jennifer Mills (Zach), Kristin Prater (Adam), Jenna Sprague (Michael), his parents Gene and Bob Morita, his mother-in-law Jaci Vire, his sisters, Christal (Jake) Keating, Lesa Petty, his grandchildren Payton, Kiya, Addie, and Joey. He also left behind 3 nieces, 4 great-nieces, and 1 great-nephew. He was preceded in death by his father (Jimmy), his father-in-law (Paul Vire), brother (Ron), nephew (Blake Wire), and unborn baby.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place on Saturday, February 1, 2025, from 10:00am until 2:00pm at Brookville Road Community Church 7480 US-52, New Palestine, IN 46163. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine.
Charitable donations in memory of Mike may be sent to Brookville Road Community Church towards their missions' fund. Envelopes will be available at the church or can be mailed to the church at the address above.
