Michael Benard Mitchell departed this life on April 6, 2025. Born on August 16, 1978, Michael lived a life that was as vibrant as it was fulfilling. He was 46 years old at the time of his passing, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Michael was born to Elmo and Emma Mitchell, who nurtured his spirit with unyielding love and guidance. After his parents passing, he was then blessed with the support of his godparents, Nathaniel and Cynthia Davis, who played an integral role in his upbringing. They instilled in him the values of perseverance and kindness.
Throughout his life, Michael made a lasting impact on everyone he met. He was a devoted father to his daughter, Destaneigh Gabriell Mitchell, who was the light of his life and his greatest pride. Michael's love for his family extended to his brothers, who he considered some of his closest friends: Larry Webb, Wilbert Blackmon, Emanuel Mitchell, and Joshua Davis. Each brother shared in the tapestry of Michael's life, weaving together countless memories of joy, mischief, and unconditional support.
Michael's family ties were further enriched by his brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Tina Lewis, who joined the Mitchell family with love and camaraderie. Michael's laughter and warmth enveloped all who knew him, and he had a remarkable ability to bring people together.
Tragically, Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Terissa Bena'y Brown-Mitchell. He was also preceded by his brothers, Jonathan Davis and Timothy Webb, whose loss left an indelible mark on Michael and strengthened the bonds of their remaining family.
Michael was a man of many passions. Friends and family will remember him for his infectious smile, his unwavering loyalty, and his ability to light up a room with his presence. He was a storyteller at heart, sharing tales that brought laughter and joy to gatherings, leaving a legacy of stories that will be shared for generations to come.
Michael leaves behind a family and a community who will forever be grateful for the time we had with him. His memory will live on through his godparents, daughter, his brothers, and all who had the privilege to know him. Rest in peace, dear Michael. You will be profoundly missed, but your spirit will continue to shine brightly in our hearts forever.
