Michael Quinn Mitchell "Mitch", passed away, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the age of 50 surrounded by his family.
Beloved husband of Melissa Mitchell; loving father of Lauren Mitchell and the late Andrew Mitchell; son in spirit to Austin Engle; father and mother Don and Jan Mitchell of Atlanta, GA; son in law to James and Janet Kladney of Wildwood, MO; brother to Rob and Neal Mitchell, brother in law to Ayuko Mitchell, brother-and-sister in law to Raleigh and Theresa Kladney; Uncle to Johnny Mitchell, James Mitchell, Ayano Mitchell, Jack Mitchell, Sommer Mitchell, Tucker Mitchell, Sofia Mitchell, McKenna Kladney, and Brayden Kladney.
Michael was a loving husband, father, son and friend. He was a Lafayette High School (Wildwood, MO) graduate class of 1993. Then graduating from the University of Missouri in Kansas City in 1998. Married his high school sweetheart Melissa. Their love story started well before that when they met in elementary school. Mitch's pride and joy were his son Drew and daughter Lauren. Mitch deeply loved his family and friends. He was always there to lend a helping hand, genuinely the nicest person you would ever meet. He had such a loving soul. Mitch loved mountain biking, off roading in his Rover, Jimmy Buffett, skiing, scuba diving and most importantly loved lacrosse. He shared this love and passion for the sport with Drew. He loved coaching and his time on the lacrosse board. Lacrosse truly was an extended family and still is. As a coach he loved watching his boys grow in lacrosse from youth to varsity. His love for lacrosse continued up until the end, still following Eureka high school lacrosse and college. He was a youth leader for 20+ years at Living Word United Methodist Church. So many memories of all the amazing youth he has gotten to know over the years and watch them grow in faith. Let's not forget his absolute love of SEC football. Saturday morning game day was the start of a long weekend of games he enjoyed to playoff games. The lively banter with friends and family of the weekend games outcome was especially enjoyable.
Michael was loved by many, and all our lives are richer because we knew him. He will be missed terribly but now he is finally at peace. Drew is wrapping his arms around him now.
"Some of it's magic, some of its tragic, but I had a good life all the way"
-Jimmy Buffett
